Maintenance of Certification

Contents

9.1 General

Producers providing samples consistently meeting the Program’s requirements must maintain adequate documentation as described in Section 8.1.2.   Unless there are significant changes in plant design or operation, this documentation need only be submitted to the Third Party Verifier every 5 years.

9.1.2 Disseminating data and documentation

Data and documentation submitted to the ABC and Third Party Verifier will not be distributed to consumers and users of digestate; the responsibility to disseminate this information to end users of digestate lies solely with the Producer.

9.1.3  Active permit requirement

To maintain certification, the Producer must certify that the digestate production facility has an active permit.

9.2 Minimum Digestate Testing Frequency for Maintenance of Certification

9.2.1  For continuous processes, low or high solids

  1. After reaching steady state operations and submitting sample for initial certification, for the first 12 months thereafter, sampling frequency should be not less than once every 4 HRTs.
  2. If no significant feedstock changes occur with ongoing operations, sampling frequency for the period after that initial 12 months can be reduced to a minimum of one time per year.
  3. If significant feedstock or operational changes occur, sampling frequency should revert to not less than once per every 4 HRTs until steady state operations returns.

9.2.2 Batch tunnel or other batch systems

  1. After reaching steady state operations and submitting sample for initial certification, for the first 12 months thereafter, sampling frequency should be not less than one composite sample per completed batch
  2. If no significant feedstock changes occur with ongoing operations, sampling frequency can be reduced to a minimum of one time per year
  3. If significant feedstock or operational changes occur, sampling frequency should revert to not less than one composite sample per completed batch
